I'm pushing myself for nature with WWF-Canada
For most of my life, I took walking for granted.
That changed when I battled cancer. What many people see as a simple daily activity became painful and difficult. I had to work hard at rehabilitation. Progress came one step at a time.
I am incredibly grateful to be able to walk freely again.
Rather than taking that gift for granted, I've decided to put it to the test by walking 300 kilometres on the trails of Ontario's Provincial Parks. For me, every kilometre is a celebration.
As I take on this journey, I'm raising funds for WWF to help protect the wildlife, forests, and natural spaces that make this planet so special. Nature has been a place of healing, reflection, and gratitude for me, and this is my way of giving back.
If you're able to support my journey with a donation, you'll be helping turn a personal triumph into something positive for our planet.
Thank you for helping me make every step count.

When the Stars Align at Presqu’île
Monday 19th OctThis morning, the stars aligned.
I had booked the day off, giving me the gift of more time to wander the trails of beautiful Presqu’île. What I couldn’t have planned was how perfectly nature would meet me there.
It felt like the seasons had found their sweet spot. The sun was shining, and the air was cool enough to keep me comfortable as I hiked, yet warm enough to linger. The park was quiet, and everything felt peaceful and undisturbed.
The woods smelled incredible: that fresh, earthy scent of damp leaves and dew-covered forest, mingled with pine. It’s a scent that’s difficult to put into words, but it made me breathe a little deeper and feel a little calmer.
Leaves rustled beneath my footsteps, while overhead, enough still clung to the branches to form beautiful, colourful canopies. Golds, oranges and reds mingled with the steady green of the evergreens. Autumn was everywhere, but the trees still held so much of their fullness.
As I moved along the trails, the sounds changed. Birds sang from different corners of the woods, each stretch of trail offering something new to listen to. In places, the trees opened enough to reveal the water, and I could hear waves breaking against the shore.
And then there were the deer.
They graced me with their presence, close enough that I could see their soulful eyes. I paused, grateful for the chance to share that quiet moment with them.
There was so much to take in, yet none of it felt overwhelming. The colours, the scents, the birdsong, the water…it all seemed to fit together perfectly. I had the time to notice, and that made the morning feel even more special.
Mornings like this remind me how much the natural world gives us, and how much there is to protect: wildlife, their habitats, and the places that offer us room to breathe and feel connected.
