WWF Climb for Nature x CN Tower

Rising Up for Nature and Wildlife — One Step at a Time

As an animal lover and avid bird watcher who also enjoys a good challenge, I’m very excited to tackle the CN Tower Climb for Nature on May 2nd in support of WWF‑Canada’s Regenerate Canada program. It’s been almost 15 years since I last did the climb as part of the Corporate Challenge. Although the struggle was real and I swore “never again,” I’m confident I can beat my younger self this time!

While the physical challenge definitely drew me back for a second attempt, an even stronger motivator has become supporting the incredible work Regenerate Canada is doing. What impresses me most about this program is its focus on nature‑based solutions — restoring biodiversity and protecting vital ecosystems like forests, wetlands, and ocean habitats. These ecosystems naturally store carbon, making them some of our strongest defenses against climate change.

Individual actions matter, but many of them address only the symptoms of climate change. What makes Regenerate Canada so meaningful is that it tackles the root causes by strengthening the natural systems that support wildlife, clean water, healthy soil, and climate stability. It’s a science‑driven approach focused on protecting and restoring the habitats that all life depends on.

While I’m doing my part by taking on the 1,776 steps of the CN Tower, I’m counting on your support to help me reach my fundraising goal. Every donation directly supports WWF‑Canada’s efforts to restore nature, reverse wildlife loss, and fight climate change through practical, effective, and habitat‑centered solutions.

Together, we can Regenerate Canada.

My Updates

Throwback Thursday!

Thursday 26th Mar
Almost 15 years ago I did my first (and only) climb. My employer used to participate in the Corporate Challenge so we had a huge team and it was a ton of fun!

But I definitely did not train and although I don't have a record of the time, I know it took me over 30min to finish. Hoping some good training and better overall fitness will help me beat my younger self this year!

Training Day 1: A Success!

Tuesday 24th Mar
In preparation for the climb I've made myself a simple tracker to keep track of my training journey. I am incorporating a couple stair climb breaks into my work day by doing as many reps as possible within a 10-15min time range.

Since the number of steps per flight isn't consistent across buildings, I am counting the total steps to compare to the CN Tower's 1,776 steps. I managed to get in 1,176 steps yesterday - not too shabby!

I was already feeling it in my quads by the second step break so there's lots of work to do before the climb LOL!
